What is needed
Farm owned eggs
Vinegar
Cucumber
Bananas
How it was seasoned...
How it was made
Put sufficient water in a big pot
Bring water to an "almost boil" (simmer!)
Add 2 tsp of vinegar (we used crystal vinegar 100% natural) The vinegar will help the egg whites sustain their shape.
Crack egg(s) into a small cup or bowl of your choosing
Then use a whisker to swiftly rotate the water in a circular motion for about a minute
Gently place eggs in the centre of this awesome simmering tornado or as Joey likes to call it in Belgiumiese (Draaikolk... Say that 10x really fast.)
Turn off the heat and leave it for 4 minutes
Lift eggs from the pot using a slotted spoon
You can dry it out by placing it on a paper towel, we didn't have any.
Then place it on to your bread buns
Add banana to the side
Season
EAT.
LOVE.
This was our first time poaching an egg, although the end result wasn't "perfect" it still looked pretty appetising and it tasted wonderful. Highly recommended as a healthy alternative to your regular fried egg. The dynamic of a nicely poached egg with multi-grain bread (fresh from the bakery) and small bits of banana was surprisingly flavourable. The cucumber, although aesthetically pleasing didn't fit into the overall taste of the meal, this can easily be replaced or taken out of the dish entirely.
When it comes to poaching eggs, practice makes perfect!
