Berlin Bears

Berlin was a fantastic experience. Sometimes you have to leave the country you're living in just to realise how unbelievably, ridiculously, horrendously expensive it is! Berlin had some great deals, and we came back with almost 25 kilo's of extra luggage! My oh my!

I had some mixed feelings about going back to Berlin. But traveling with Joey was such a fantastic experience.

Joey, rocking out one of my mother's coats and fans. Super freak? Or Super fly?

Want to see what Joey looks like tipsy?

These look pretty painful!

Is it strange that my favourite kind of meal in Berlin is a Turkish one?

Ready for the U - Bahn.

Stepping out onto Potsdamer Platz and walking around is kind of like roaming through a modernised miniature New York. It's very pretty, and very shiny. I use to go to Potsdamer all the time when I lived in Berlin. But going back was so different this time around. It was nicer, cleaner, better.

The extravagant and impressive Sony Centre. I'm not one to usually go for gigantic ostentatious structures, but, this one was nice to linger around for a while.

The Jewish Memorial

We happened to roam around Berlin on a day when they were having a gigantic festival that seemed to disappear into the farthest horizon!  On the 3rd of October they were celebrating the Day of German Unity, a day that commemorates when the Federal Republic of Germany and the Democratic Republic of Germany came together to crew ate one single federal country.

One of the things Joey noticed about Berlin that really caught is eye is how all the electric boxes or "left over structures" that probably serve some clerical purpose were painted over really well. It added dashes of colour here and there to what generally looks like a monochromatic city.

I genuinely regret not having the chance to do this. Just a bunch of people... taking a tour of Berlin... on a parallel bike... with an inbuilt crate of beer.

We did, however, get the chance to go to a real German beer house... Lederhosen and all!

Bits and Bobs (Stoke on Trent)

The following are just a few typically English things I love, including things around my grandmother's house that I've seen since I was a very little girl. To check out my Sherratt family tree just click HERE. My father is Bruce Robert Sherratt, if you keep clicking back on the Sherratt side of the family, you can see how far it goes!

My father and my uncle Roger

Typically British Countryside

My cousin Selina's delicious and beautifully made cupcakes for my nan's 95th.

Fancy fly swatters gran!

Would you like a cup of Tea?

My grandmother's 95th birthday family reunion was anything but boring. Finally, Joey met most my family on the British, and with that, came some typically British traditions, events, and meals.

Needless to say, Joey thoroughly enjoyed himself, and my family absolutely loved him!

Summer in Brugge

If there is anything that should not be taken for granted, it is a sun ray in Brugge. So you can imagine my excitement when experiencing summer here, not only is it vastly different from the grey, wet, freezing cold weather of a depressing winter, but it is action packed with fun, musical, strange, festivals with an eclectic range of themes. And of course, and eclectic taste in alcohol.

As the weather now slowly but surely in it's snail like pace reverts back to colder days, I can't help but hear the echo of a voice resonating in the far distance of my imagination, to steal a quote from the Game of Thrones... "Winter is Coming"!
Ah! The very phrase sends shivers down my spine, the thought is cringe worthy and dispiriting. Nevertheless, the sun is still streaming through the crevices of this proverbial box; the colours of summer still greet me, although now bitterly withering away like watercolour on a spoiled canvas.

I regretfully put on another pullover, soon I shall drowning in layers again fighting the daggers the cold air brings. Until then, I'll bask in the rays that weave though clouds, intervals that seem to go on and on forever.

I'll savour the warmth, the colours, and the overall ambiance that Brugge offers in the summer time... while I still can.

Cala Moli

Cala Moli is a nice morning beach, quite but very rocky. We recommend wearing shoes!
